DIY: CAP TOE PUMPS

Have you ever found yourself with an old pair of shoes in your closet? Don't throw the out! You can easily turn them into a total "new" and fashionable pair of shoes. Wonder how? Here it is, my most recent DIY project I was dying to make and show you the results! It's really super super simple and quick project to make. The inspiration? Cap toe pumps seen everywhere from runways to celebrity's feet and stores.

¿Alguna vez te has encontrado con un viejo par de zapatos en tu armario? Espera, no los tires! Puedes fácilmente convertirlos en un completamente "nuevo" par de zapatos. Te preguntas, ¿cómo? Aquí está, mi proyecto DIY más reciente que me moría por hacer y mostrarles los resultados! Es realmente estupendo, un proyecto super simple y rápido de hacer. La inspiración? Zapatos de tacón con punta metálica vistos en todas partes desde las pasarelas a los pies de celebridades y tiendas.

To make these shoes you will only need: 

1. A pair of old (or new) high heels

2. A can of silver spray paint

3. Painter's tape or masking tape

4. Newspaper

5. A ruler

Para hacer estos zapatos sólo se necesita:

1. Un par de viejos (o nuevos) tacones altos

2. Una lata de pintura en aerosol color plata

3. Cinta adhesiva

4. Papel periódico

5. Una regla

First, clean your shoes and cover every part that you don't want to paint with the masking tape. Measure with the ruler the cap toe part to get it even. Or you can also simply eye-ball it. 

Tip: If your shoes are kinda old like mine were, remove some of the tape's adhesive first to prevent it from ruining your shoe. I did this by placing the sticky side of the tape on my jeans first and then onto the shoe. It's also easier to remove when you're done.

En primer lugar, limpia los zapatos y cubre cada parte que no deseas pintar con la cinta adhesiva. Medir con la regla de la parte donde pintaras tu cap toe para que quede parejo. O también puedes simplemente hacerlo a simple vista.

Consejo: Si los zapatos son un poco viejos como los míos, primero retira algo del adhesivo de la cinta para evitar que se arruine tu zapato. Hice esto colocando el lado pegajoso de la cinta en mis jeans y luego en el zapato. También es más fácil de quitarlo cuando hayas terminado.

The second step is to paint the exposed parts of the shoe with your spray paint. Make sure to cover the surface where you're working with some newspaper to prevent a huge mess. Spray your shoe from a distance of approximately 30 cm (12 in) try to get the coat as even as you can. And let dry for a couple of minutes.

Important! Always read the instructions on the paint can and use it in a well ventilated space. (I painted my shoes in my garden). 

El segundo paso es pintar las partes expuestas del zapato con pintura en aerosol. Asegúrate de cubrir la superficie donde trabajaras con papel periódico para evitar un desastre enorme. Rocía tu zapato a una distancia de aproximadamente 30 cm (12 in) tratando de obtener la capa lo más uniforme posible. Y dejar secar durante un par de minutos.

¡Importante! Lee siempre las instrucciones de la lata de pintura y utilizalo en un espacio bien ventilado. (Por ejemplo, yo pinté mis zapatos en mi jardín).

Finally, remove the tape and now you've got a pair of shoes that are a cool addition to your closet!

Por último, retira la cinta y ahora tienes un par de zapatos que son una nueva y llamativa adición a tu armario.
